Kindy

Our Class Program

Our Kindy room has 28 children with 5 educators. The Kindy Room is led by a Group Leader and is assisted by an Early Childhood Teacher who holds a Bachelor of Education and Assistant Educators who have a Certificate lll or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

All of our Kindy educators have a valid working with children check, a first-aid certificate, emergency asthma training and anaphylaxis management training. All educators attend regular professional development sessions to reflect on their pedagogical practices and learn new innovative ways to educate young children.

Our Kindy outdoor play space provides children with the opportunity to develop and learn about sustainable practices and interact with the natural environment.

Observations & Curriculum Planning

Educators in our Kindy room encompass and implement pedagogies that encourage trial and error, positive reinforcement, connection between language and thought processes along with social growth. Cognitive Development theorist Lev Vygotsky and Fredrich Froebel support these pedagogy practices.

We achieve this by interacting with children through individual and large group experiences and fostering positive emotional communication.

Children are observed on a regular basis where educators record their ideas and interests. The educators then choose an experience that they feel the child will enjoy and encourage their learning to develop further.

Each enrolled child will receive a portfolio detailing their learning journey and presenting their observations, work samples and audio/visual records.

School Readiness

We run a school readiness program all year around to support children transitioning into the school environment. This is led by our Early Childhood Teachers who encompass a holistic approach to teaching and provide learning opportunities to assist children in transferring skills they have learnt and developed from one area into another. Thus, embedding pedagogies based on the theorist Fredrich Froebel and Howard Gardener.

Our school readiness program helps children to be prepared for formal schooling. In conjunction with the Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) are learning to be responsible for their own physical health and well-being (DEEWR, 2009).
